New Candys (ITA)

Concocted with the darkest deviant rock'n'roll ethos and distinctive melodic distortions, New Candys have established themselves as one of the most compelling bands to emerge from italy in recent years. Founded by Songwriter and singer-guitarist Fernando Nuti alongside Bassist and synth player Dario Lucchesi, the lineup is completed by Emanuele Zanardo on lead guitar and backing vocals and Francesco Giocomin on drums and sampler. Signed to the Cult record lable Fuzz Club, the band is reconized for ist unfilteres artisticapproach and versatility, seamlessly blending symbolism of their hometown, Venezia, often permeates their Music, which explores surreal and sometimes crytic themes.

Kill Your Boyfriend is a two-piece psych/post-punk/dark wave/ shoegaze band formed in 2011 in Venice, Italy. They are Matteo Scarpa on guitar and vocals, and Antonio Angeli on drums. They have released 2 albums on Italy-based Shyrec, as well as several singles and EPs, including a 10" split with New Candys in 2015 and “Elizabeth” a 7" Ltd on London-based Depths Records. The third album “Killadelica” is released the 6th of November 2020 via Sister9 Recordings, Little Cloud Records and Shryec. They have been performing extensively across Europe, UK and Russia opening for bands like Preoccupations, The KVB, ZU, Zola Jesus, Civil Civic, The Underground Youth and many other artists. The new album “Voodoo” was released the 14th of October 2022 via Sister9 Recordings, Little Cloud Records and Shryec.

2017 zuerst als Solo Projekt von Philip Paulus gegründet, gehört mittlerweile auch Michael Zagorec zur fixen Kernbesetzung von The Velvet Swing. Beide verbindet dabei von Anfang an eine große Liebe zum Psychedelic Rock zwischen dessen klassischen Surf- & Garagen-Vorstufen sowie deren modernen Adaptionen (Allah-Las, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels). Dabei entsteht aus einer Handvoll Akkorden, wenig Progression und spärlicher Instrumentalisierung eine zeitlose Coolness, die jeglichen Firlefanz bewusst weglässt. Diese Attitude durchzieht auch die Tonträger von The Velvet Swing (4 EP´s & 1 LP), die voll von psychedelischen Perlen im klassischen Drei-Minuten-Format sind. Psychedelic Rock als Nichteinverstandensein mit der Wirklichkeit, wo sich coole Filme nicht nur angeschaut werden wollen, sondern wo in ihnen gelebt werden will. Am 07. Februar 2025 erschien mit Dream Of Abstract die vierte EP des Projekts auf dem Salzburger Label Bachelor Records. Der Extended Player enthält 5 Songs, darunter die bereits veröffentlichten Singles Trouble And Mud und Dream Of Abstract. Gemischt und gemastert von Leonard Kaage (Error & The Underground Youth). Kaage hat den Live-Sound der Band aufgegriffen und ihn in seiner Mischung widergespiegelt. Die Single Trouble And Mud wurde bereits von Robert Rotifer (FM4) sowie in der Morning Show von John Richards (KEXP) gespielt.
